The police command has made some arrest of persons believed to have planned and executed the killings of 19 worshipers in Benue state.
According to reports gathered by Queendoosh.com, atleast five suspected killers linked to the mass murder of two Reverend Fathers namely, Joseph Gor,Felix Tyolaha and 17 other worshippers at Saint Ignatius Catholic Church, Ayor, Mbalom in Gwer west local government area of Benue state have been arraigned at a magistrate court in Makurdi.
They are the deputy commandant, Benue Livestock Guard, Manga Husseini who is a (Fulani man) with three of his members David Akenawe(Tiv), Agada Tsesaa(Tiv), Tarza Orvanya(Tiv) and Ngyohov Shin(Tiv), all from Benue state.
Prosecutor, Godwin Nev told the court that the suspects had on the 25th of April conspired with the ex Boko Haram member who also doubles as a Livestock Commandant in Benue state, Alhaji Aliyu Tashaku to acquire guns to commit the act and has been assisting herdsmen militia in attacking and killing people in the state.
The prosecutor stated further that the Livestock Guard Commandant, Alhaji Tashaku was arrested by a joint operation of SARS, DSS and the Nigerian Army and taken to Abuja for interrogation while others including Zungwenen Bar(Tiv), alias Black and Gber-dugh (Tiv) are still at large.
He however stated that investigation was in progress and applied for another date.
Counsel to Manga Husseini, Mr Tijani Amed who spoke on behalf of the other counsel said he will apply formally for the bail of the suspects.
The Trial Magistrate, Mr Isaac Ajim did not take plea for want of jurisdiction and ordered that the suspects be remanded at the Federal prisons, Makurdi and adjourned the case to the 16th of July,2018.
It could be recalled that the suspects, Alhaji Aliyu Tashaku and Manga Hussein ,until their arrest were both appointed by the Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom as the heads of the Benue Livestock Guard.
