Governor Ortom of Benue State is once again in trouble as the Nigeria’s anti-graft agency moves against the government.
This was revealed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary,Terver Akase. According to him, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was desperate to nail Governor Samuel Ortom.
Mr Akase, raised the alarm in a statement on Wednesday,Daily Post says.
He described the move by the anti-graft commission as an act of desperation.
Akase said: “The level at which EFCC is pushing its persecution of Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom is ridiculous.
“No day passes without the commission adding one more angle to their harassment of Benue officials.
“Their latest move is the demand for minutes of the Benue State Security Council meetings.
“Does the statutory mandate of the commission include regulation of states’ security affairs?
“We wonder why Benue is being singled out for witchhunt. Is Governor Ortom the first sitting Governor to defect to another political party? Why is his case different?”
Recall last week, the EFCC, froze the account belonging to the Benue state government.
The account was, however, unblocked after two days.
