News Making the rounds have it that the Benue State University Makurdi has been blacklisted by NYSC and consequently, graduates of the University are barred from participating in the one year compulsory National Service has been confirmed to be true.
According to Queendoosh reporter, Upuu, this concerns their inability to register like their counterparts from other universities since the commencement of the registration exercise, a group of concerned graduates on Wednesday 10th October 2018 sent a delegation to the NYSC headquarters in Abuja and were reliably informed by the officials that Benue State University Makurdi has been blacklisted and graduates of the state owned University are barred from participating in the one year program for a period of two years.
The reason for this harsh decision was not revealed as the NYSC officials only told the delegation that the university management is in the know of the rationale behind the ugly development but has not taken any steps to correct it. However, they gave assurances that if proactive steps are taken by the University management immediately to sort out the contentious issues, her graduates may be considered for the November batch.
We also gathered that these concerned graduates sent another delegation to the Benue state university but the delegation was unable to meet the Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Joseph Kerker who was not on seat as at the time they called.
The delegation also met another group of concerned graduates who were already at the Student Affairs Division for the same purpose but were told to check the NYSC portal at 4 O’clock for their names.
