Following the news that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) had canceled some centres in Benue state and other states across Nigeria.
The examination body has explained why it suspended nine Computer Based Test (CBT) centres across the country in the ongoing registration for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE).
According to JAMB, they were suspended for engaging in an alleged illegal activities bothering on the conduct of CBT.
JAMB said they were suspended for engaging in unauthorized use of registration SIM in a manner it claimed is inimical to candidates’ interest; as well as charging candidates higher than the authorized fee and for engaging in mobile registration.
Below are the CBT centres affected by their action as listed.
1.Global ICT Connect Ltd at the Benue State University, Makurdi;
2.University of Benin ICT Computer Based Test (CBT)
3.DA Civic Centre, Benin City, Edo State
4.Mardakem Company Ltd., Oron, Akwa Ibom State
5.Bintels Global Services LTD, Aguleri
6.Noble & Shuaib ICT Ltd, Alor, Anambra State
7.Medes ICT Centre, Idepe, Okitipupa, Ondo State
8.Divine Success All CBT Centre, Iseyin, Oyo State
9.Riyom ICT Centre, Plateau State.
Prof. Oloyede-led JAMB however, vowed to deal with any centres found running against the stipulated guidelines of the examination body. He also disclosed that it is currently monitoring closely activities at about 10 centres in Lagos and Plateau states, saying its management would meet on January 28, to take appropriate action on these centres.
