Buhari reacts to INEC’s decision to postpone election by a week

buhariThe 2019 general election which was scheduled to hold February 16th, 2019 which is today but was shifted by a week after the Independence National Electoral Commission announced five hours to the polls it decision to move it to a later date following logistics problems has been received with mix reactions.

As already reported,INEC announced that the Presidential and National Assembly elections will take place on 23rd February while the governorship election would now hold  9th ,March respectively.

The Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari who already was in his hometown in Daura ,Katsina State where he was expected to cast his vote expressed disappointment over the decision of the electoral body to postpone the election by a week few hours into the exercise.

Buhari, stated that the electoral body had promised time after time that they won’t be a shift in the polls and also pleaded with Nigerians to be patient.

He said; I am deeply disappointed that despite the long notice given and our preparations both locally and internationally, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) postponed the Presidential and National Assembly elections within hours of its commencement”.
