It could be recalled , the Zone A senatorial candidate’s home was forcefully invaded by the police force on the orders if the governor who asked that her official vehicles be confiscated following her sack.
Well, aacourt sitting in Makurdi has granted her victory. According to reporre obtained by Queendoosh , a Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi presided by Justice O. Olajuwon on 21/2/2019 ordered the Benue State Government and Nigerian Police to pay two million naira to Mrs Mimi Adzape-Orubibi as Compensation to damages of her fundamental human violation.
Justice Olajuwon gave the order while ruling on suit filed by Mrs. Mimi Orubibi challenging the police for invading her house in New GRA, Makurdi on the directive of the Benue State Government to recover the government vehicle attached to her when she was BIRS Chairman.
The Federal High Court Judge who ruled that the seizure and confiscation of the plaintiff’s Hilux Truck by the police was illegal, also ordered that the vehicle be returned to her.
The judgement further read:
“it is hereby ordered that the Respondents return the 1st Applicant’s White Hilux truck with REGISTRATION NUMBER MUS 207 DJ, CHASIS NUMBER AHTFX22G50827291, ENGINE NUMBER 2TR781128 to the 1st Applicant forthwith…The Respondents are to pay the N2, 000, 000.00 (Two Million Naira) only as damages for breach of 1st Applicant’s Fundamental human rights”
The Plaintiff, Mrs.Mimi Adzape-Orubibi alleged that the police had on the 18th of September, 2018 invaded her house while she was away to recover by force the Prado Jeep that was given to her as an official vehicle, following her sack as BIRS Chairman and confiscated the Hilux when they could not see the Prado Jeep in the house.
Justice Olajuwon agreed with the submission of the counsel to the plaintiff Mike Agaku that the action of the police amounted to violation of her fundamental human rights and accordingly awarded the damage cost.
